Nervous About Your First Consultation? Here’s What Happens
By Vita Aesthetics & Wellness | October 16, 2026
If you’re feeling a little nervous, you’re in good company. People tell me all the time that what helped most was that we explained everything and didn’t try to upsell, then recommended exactly what actually made sense for them.
A consultation here is a 30 minute, no-pressure visit where I review your medical history and goals, take a look at the area you’re concerned about, talk through options, risks, costs, and timing, and help you decide on next steps. You won’t be forced to commit the same day.
Quick reassurance: If you’re coming in for questions around botox, masseter botox, botox shots, lip filler, or lip fillers near me searches that have you overwhelmed, this visit is simply where we get clear on what you want and what fits your face.
We’re based in Whittier, and for a lot of people in East Whittier and Friendly Hills near Rose Hills, a consultation is an easy stop after the I-605 or Whittier Blvd commute. I keep the visit focused so you can get answers, a realistic timeline, and a clear plan without taking half your day.
Before your initial consultation: 6 things I want you to bring (or message me)
If you do one thing before you come in, do this: show up with the info that helps me keep you safe and give you a plan that actually matches your life.
- Current medications and supplements, including blood thinners and anything that bruises you easily.
- Recent procedures you’ve had done, even if it was at another med spa, including filler history (what, where, and when).
- Clear photos of your concern when it bothers you most. That helps with acne scars, texture, and facial movement patterns.
- Your “must not” list. For example, “I don’t want duck lips, ” “I want baby botox that still looks natural, ” or “I don’t want heavy brows.” People bring this up a lot when they’re considering lip filler or Juvederm lip filler.
- A quick schedule reality check. Tell me if you have a big event, photos, travel, or you can’t be puffy for a few days.
- Language preference. If Spanish-language support makes you more comfortable, let us know when you book so we can plan well.
Practical prep: Plan 30 to 60 minutes total for check-in, forms, and your consult. If we’re talking about your goals and concerns, I generally recommend coming in with clean skin and minimal makeup so I can actually see what’s going on.
During your 30-minute consultation: the exact flow, step by step
When you arrive, you’ll check in and handle a quick intake so I’m not guessing about your health history. If you brought photos, we’ll look at them together. People often come in for one thing and then realize the real issue is something slightly different, like movement patterns, volume loss, or skin texture.
Next, I’ll ask what you want to see in the mirror. Not the trend. Your goal. Some visitors come in nervous about botox shots. Others are looking into fillers near me, lip filler, or sculptra near me because they want softer lines without looking “done.” And a lot of first-timers want reassurance that they’ll still look like themselves.
Then I do a focused exam. That might mean looking at your facial symmetry, how your muscles move when you animate, or checking skin quality if you’re asking about your skin concerns. I’ll tell you what I’m seeing in plain language and why it matters.
After that, I’ll walk you through options and the tradeoffs. People really appreciate that we don’t push. We’ll talk about what I recommend and what I don’t, plus what to expect for downtime, swelling, and how long results usually take to show.
“Hands down the best experience one could ever expect! I was totally nervous for my Botox consult and the staff were superstars! They were kind, courteous, professional but best of all PATIENT!! … they took their time to explain and answer every single question I had…”
One of our first-time clients
Before you leave, I’ll make sure you have next steps you can actually follow. If you want to go deeper on timing, you can also read how long a consultation lasts and what that looks like on a real schedule.
Can you do treatment the same day? Sometimes, yes, and here’s how I decide
Same-day treatment is one of the biggest questions I get, especially from commuters coming in from Pico Rivera, Santa Fe Springs, La Mirada, South Whittier, and South El Monte. The honest answer is: sometimes we can, and sometimes it’s smarter to schedule.
If we’re discussing something straightforward and you’re a good candidate, you may be able to do botox, masseter botox, or a small tweak the same day. A lot depends on your medical history, if you’re feeling rushed, and whether you’ve had previous filler that needs to be assessed first.
For some services, I’d rather schedule so you have time to think, prep, and avoid surprises. That includes certain filler plans, combination approaches (like skin work plus injectables), or when we’re mapping out a plan for your concerns. If you want a deeper look at the “why, ” I wrote out the benefits of starting with a consultation before you commit to a plan.
If you’re hoping for same-day: book a time when you’re not squeezing it between commitments. I never want you deciding fast because you feel rushed.
After your consultation: the plan, the price, and what happens next
You’ll leave with a clear roadmap. People tell me they like that the plan matches their goal, not whatever is trending online. If your plan includes injectables, we’ll talk about what’s normal right after, like mild swelling. One first-time visitor doing baby botox and lips mentioned normal swelling and no bruising at all at 48 hours, which is exactly the type of real-world detail I’ll go over when we talk about your aftercare.
I’ll also give you a price estimate based on your options. If you’re comparing consultation price questions across clinics, here’s what matters more than a number: that you understand what you’re paying for, how many sessions you’ll likely need (if any), and what the maintenance cadence looks like.
If you do treatment the same day, we’ll review quick aftercare guidance before you walk out. I generally recommend you plan for easy, low-key activity right after injections. If you’re scheduling for later, I’ll tell you how to prepare so you feel steady walking in.
If you like having the next steps written out, you’ll probably appreciate consultation aftercare and next steps, including how I think about follow-ups and touch-ups.
My favorite first-visit tip in East Whittier: bring your questions, not your courage
Here’s the inside piece that makes a first visit easier: don’t try to show up “knowing what to ask.” Just show up honest. People come in with a million questions. That’s normal. And if you’re worried you’ll be talked into something, I hear the opposite most often: that we took time to explain, answered everything, and kept it calm.
I also want you to know you can bring support. I’ve had visitors come in with their mom, and I’ve had people book after telling me they’re bringing a family member next time. That comfort piece matters, especially if it’s your first time looking into lip filler, Juvederm lip filler, or anything injectable.
If you’re in Friendly Hills near Rose Hills, it’s usually an easy visit to fit in without taking weekday time off. We see a lot of working families and commuters, so evening and weekend slots matter here.
If you want to feel prepared: write down your top 3 priorities and your top 3 worries. Bring both lists. I can work with that.
When you’re ready, book your consultation and tell us what you’re hoping to focus on. If it helps to start with more background first, our consultation services in East Whittier breaks down how people typically use this visit to build a plan.
